OUR STORY

Our story began gaining momentum over 15 years ago... Pastor Will Marotti and his wife, Ann, have had the desire and passion for a Christian school since the very beginning of New Life Church! As New Life Church has grown and expanded its outreach programs over the years, the passion for the school has only intensified!

In 2005, the school was officially adopted as part of the 20-Year Ministry Plan for New Life Church.

In 2006 Carver Preschool was launched!  All the intensity and passion for excellence that New Life Church is known for has been poured into Carver Preschool! Carver Preschool is an academic-focused program that welcomes and loves each child for the individual they are!

The reality of Carver Academy became inevitable when God opened the way for New Life Church to purchase the 56-acre Mountain Ridge facility in Wallingford, CT in 2012.

In September 2013, Carver Academy began its first year, offering Kindergarten and First Grade!  What a fantastic year it was! Consecutive grades have been added each year, thereby allowing the original kindergarten and first-grade class to progress through 8th grade smoothly! In 2017, we built a brand new facility on this amazing campus that allows us the room to experience unlimited growth!

“Our goal is to provide the absolute best academic environment possible while instilling Christian values and world view,” said Pastor Will Marotti, senior pastor for New Life Church.

The school’s name is inspired by the famous and influential agricultural scientist, George Washington Carver, who was a great man of faith and a highly accomplished genius.  There is not an American household that the inventions and progressive thinking of George Washington Carver have not positively impacted. Carver was born into very humble beginnings but was inspired by his devoted Christian mother, who believed in the power of knowledge and personal ambition.

Statement of Faith

  • God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

    Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

    Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13

  • The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. Jesus baptizes every believer in the Holy Spirit and gives spiritual gifts the instant they are born again. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily by an ongoing process of the filling or fullness of the Holy Spirit.

    2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25

  • The Bible is God’s Word to us, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspires it, it is truth without any mixture of error.

    2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Proverbs 30:5; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6

  • People are made in the spiritual image of God to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

    Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2

  • Life is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. We are saved when we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

    Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

  • People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

    John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15, 1 Cor. 2:7-9

  • Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. You cannot “lose” it if you have been genuinely saved. Salvation is maintained by the grace and filling power of the Holy Spirit, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

    John 10:29; 2 Tim. 1:12; Heb. 7:25, 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5

WHY A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL?

Q: I already pay taxes which pay for public education that has experienced and professional teachers. Why should I pay extra to send my child to a Christian school?

The most important reason is worldview.

Your child spends more time in school with their teacher and other students than they do at home with you. Teachers, curriculum, and other students all influence your child in subtle ways. In a public school setting, that kind of influence might not be what you want instilled in your child. You may try to counteract this at home and through church, but let's face it - you just don't have an even playing field when the other side gets so much more time.

Even as young as elementary school, a secular progressive worldview is forced on your child.  Your child will be taught that behaviors the Bible calls "sin" are acceptable and even morally good.  Your child will learn that there is nothing special about them, but that they are merely highly evolved cosmic slime with no greater value or significance than any other plant or animal.  Over years, this has an observable effect on the way children think, believe, and act.

Q: Is there any difference between public school and Carve Academy?

Yes, there is a tremendous difference! First, we hire experienced teachers who absolutely love children. Additionally, our teachers have been observed in church and other settings where they demonstrate their caring nature in more than just a "instructor" capacity. Second, the smaller classroom sizes allow for more individual attention per student. This tight-knit framework encourages deeper friendships to develop which fosters more robust social/emotional and spiritual growth.

Why would you want that for your children, when you could have a superior, rigorous academic education that is in line with your beliefs and a true, Biblical worldview that prepares them for the challenges of college and life? As parents, we have been given a tremendous responsibility by God to train our children in the way they should go. Isn't it worth any sacrifice to ensure your child has the very best preparation for life, both academically and spiritually? This decision and investment will make an impact for generations!

THE CARVER ACADEMY DIFFERENCE

We Offer Excellent Academics in a Caring, Christian Environment

  • In a world where America is falling behind other countries, our policy-makers invent a new educational program almost every election cycle -- carelessly tossing aside the tried and true methods of the past. The latest is "Common Core", which has had terrible results, leading to frustrated students and parents. When you enroll your child at Carver Academy, you are investing in your child's future where they will have a definite edge over public school peers in college and in the workplace. Your children will be equipped with the tools they need to succeed.

  • Exceptional Curriculum

Carver Academy uses the A Beka curriculum as its foundation, which is research-based, time-tested, and produces proven academic results. Supplementing this curriculum is ACSI's Purposeful Design curriculum which brings hands on science into the classroom beginning in first grade, and great Bible lessons applied in the character of the lives of our students! James 1:22 says, "But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves." (NLT) The Purposeful Design Bible curriculum doesn't just help students to know God's Word, but to put it into practice!

  • Reading is the basis for every other type of learning. A Beka lays a strong foundation in phonics, so that every student will be able to read by the end of Kindergarten, and then build on that knowledge in first and second grade. Beginning in third grade, we use Purposeful Design's literature curriculum which has a stronger emphasis on identifying story elements, critical thinking, and writing.

  • Carver Academy has high standards of excellence academically, spiritually, and behaviorally to prepare students for success in college and in life. As a result, students are able to read in Kindergarten, write in cursive in first grade, do multiplication and division in second grade, and advance in every area through every grade of Carver Academy!

  • Our teachers are gifted, tested, experienced, and hired from within. We see them in action and know their giftedness to teach along with their caring concern for children before we hire them. All of our teachers have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and most have education degrees.

  • The Bible and Christian character are woven into every subject at Carver Academy, so we partner with you in laying a foundation to complement the values that you are trying to instill in your children at home.

  • Students are taught to not only memorize and comprehend information, but to apply it to their lives and critically examine what they learn to prepare them for the rigors and varying worldviews of college.

  • Relationships between students and teachers are greatly valued at Carver Academy. Another unique goal of the school is the interaction among all age groups. Many schools do not have this age span of students on one campus.

  • Students take standardized tests every Spring and on average perform one grade level higher than their peers nationwide. When we hire the best teachers and use the best curriculum, we get the best results!

  • Carver reflects the diversity of the communities it represents. Students will learn to respect and interact responsibly with a broad variety of cultures.
